Why my Nikon camera won´t accept my brand new SD memory card?
johnnyamado
My camera is a Nikon CoolPix L4 ( i know it´s a little bit old, although it´s the one I got).
I bought a 4Gb SD memory card from the brand “Dane EleC”, it cost me a reasonable amount, and I was very happy, until I turn on the camera with the card in, and it says very clearly: ” THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED”. I wonder if the card is too large. Can anyone give me a hint?
Comment please!

I’m betting that your camera cannot use SD cards greater than 2GB and they have to be standard SD cards not the newer SDHC format. I know the L4 is only 3 or 4 years old, but it’s a pretty basic (and none to clever) camera, time to upgrade maybe?
That model does not read the newer SDHC format cards. As a result, you are limited to cards no larger than 2GB, the largest standard SD card capacity. The SDHC cards use a slightly different file allocation. Cameras using this can read the older SD cards, but cameras without the newer standard can not read the newer cards.
I understand the camera has served you well and is capable of serving you for more years. However, you may want to look at some newer models with more features such as image stabilization, face and smile detection, etc.
Sorry, but your camera does not accept SDHC (high capacity SD) memory cards. The L4 was released in 2006…and only cameras released early 2007 and onwards are able to use SDHC cards.
So, you can only use SD cards with a maximum capacity of 2GB.
