I guess it would depend on what type of concert. If it’s like an opera, I would suggest you get the new nikon d5000. It has a silent motor that allows for quiet shots, so you do not “break the concentration” of others around you. However, if sound is not a factor, I would suggest you get a d90. It has video function as well if you feel like recording. For lenses, you would want to get close shots, so maybe a 18-200mm would be good! Hope this helps!

Good question. I’m having trouble choosing my first model between Canon and Nikon. I need a camera and lense that will be good at shooting indoor live concerts. Any suggestions?

it would be great if they just made and concentraded all the time and resources on making one superior product instead of different quality products. WHy don’t manafactures just produce the best of everything? that way money would be saved and materials too and it would save costs on less resources. Why is their so muhc crap on the market? If the crap was eliminated you could use the the resources used on the crap rubbihs products to make good products. why can’t everything just be the best

The material quality of Nikon is much higher than Canon, even at the same price level, not sure about the quality of the actual pictures though. Nikon have an incredible amount of features, many of which aren’t even available on any Canon cameras. It makes the Nikon manual modes a little more overwhelming to get in to.
But the Canon plastic/aluminum feels so crappy compared to the Nikon titanium. You really get what you pay for.

Nikons are almost always going to be the better quality for the money. There are A LOT of benefits to going with a Nikon. Just search for comparisons on Google.

  17. super1commenteron 18 Aug 2009 at 2:49 am

D80 is better, in the kit, the lens can zoom at a 12-135 range

  18. toomanyusernameon 20 Aug 2009 at 2:51 am

Isabel, the new D-90 can record videos, but it’s a much more expensive camera.

I got the D40x for my birthday, it was a great camera, but I took it back and paid the difference and upgraded to the D80 and was so glad I did. I recommend the D80 over the D40 AND THE D40X.

  21. 123456789doorwallon 24 Aug 2009 at 7:55 am

It does. It records videos too

  22. accuracy76on 24 Aug 2009 at 11:15 am

D80 not records video. D90 do this.

  23. isabeldgpon 26 Aug 2009 at 5:51 pm

can someone tell me if I can make movies on it? I’m trying to choose between a Canon EOS 450D and a D80… If I understood well, non of them records… Am I right? Thanks!
