Pictbridge is what you need. Most cameras, especially if it is Nikon, it has it. Most printers today (recent models) will work.

When you bought your Nikon it came with the CD. Use that and it will tell you step by step how to print your pics. from your computer. That CD is also excellent for manipulating your pictures.

I have an HP 1315 PSC (Printer, Scanner, Copier), it's got a "PictBridge" that you can hook up any kind of cameras to it directly & printing your photos; the only problem is that you can't edit the photo if you want to print it directly without PC. But still it's good & you don't need any CDs, etc. Just the USB cable & the camera & the quality is axeptible!;)

I have a Cannon Pixma ip6000D photo printer that works great with my Nikon D50 SLR digital camera. The Pict ure Bridge software came with the camera and it is easy to use.
