Faster way to upload photos from nikon camera to computer?

Do you have to use the Nikon software to transfer every picture from your camera to your computer? What the fastest/easiest way?

Buy a SD card adapter, which is rather chap.. Then you will just have to get out the memory card, slot it in the adapter, and plug it into your USB slot. Just use it like any other other USB drives. Very convenient, no more troublesome cables.
